Agency History: The Washington State Records Committee was established in 1957 by the authority of RCW 40.14.050. The Committee is composed of the State Archivist and one representative for each of the following state officials: State Auditor, Office of Financial Management and the Attorney General. The State Records Committee adopts procedures for records disposition, scheduling, and other matters relating to the retention, preservation, or destruction of public records of state government agencies.
