Transcription Notes: “Driving from Omak toward Okanogan on Hwy 215, turn right on Elgin passing by Our Lady Catholic Church. You must enter the city of Okanogan first to do this. Continue on this road till you reach the cemetery.” “This is a very large cemetery, owned and well maintained by the City of Omak. In the past it was known as Okanoma Cemetery. I have not found out when the name changed.” “I tried to add locations when I could, but many do not have the location. Those with an asterisk * are from a previous reading done by Edna Hartney in the late 1980's with limited more information. There are no photos and no markers for any of those with an asterisk.” “The locations could be off, so do not rely heavily upon them. They should be in the correct Lane, but might be in a different row. There were 5 lanes in the cemetery. Number 5 has the office only. Each Lane had two sections, so I called one north and the other south. The number of rows varied, and sometimes was not even possible to decipher which row they were in.” “I used a digital camera for most of the headstone readings. I walked this cemetery Jul 19 & 20, 2002, then transcribed in Nov and Dec of 2002. This includes all existing headstones and markers in the cemetery up to the time of my reading.” |
