WHEREAS, by Executive Order dated October 6, 1967, the Urban Affairs Council was created as a separate program within the Office of Secretary of State, and
WHEREAS,it has become increasingly evident that exploration in depth is needed of the causes for and prevention of civil unrest and disturbances in our Nation and in our State,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby confirm and expand the task of the Urban Affairs Council and authorize a creation of a separate committee of that Council to be known as the Commission on the Cause and Prevention of Civil Disorder. I request that all departments of state government provide such reasonable information and assistance as will be required by the Commission and similarly urge all other levels of government and private citizens to cooperate with and lend support to the Commission.
