WHEREAS, it is important that all segments of society have the opportunity to contribute to its progress and well-being, and
WHEREAS, among young people in the State of Washington there is a tremendous reservoir of intellectual resources, energy and belief in a goal of a better state for the future, and
WHEREAS, it is important that the ideas and talents of young people be used to help solve some of the problems of our state and that young people make a contribution to this end,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby constitute the Washington State Commission for Youth Involvement as a separate program within the Office of the Secretary of State. I request that departments of state government give all reasonable assistance to this Commission, and I ask that local government officials, and private citizens lend it their fullest measure of cooperation for the accomplishing of its goals.
