Governor Gregoire Signs Measure to Improve Technology in Health Care

TACOMA � Governor Chris Gregoire today signed into law House Bill 2573, a measure she requested to require the State Health Care Authority to use its health care purchasing clout to encourage and promote the use of health information technology by hospitals and other health-care providers.

�Health information technology is critical to our state's ability to provide timely, necessary and evidence-based health care,� said Governor Gregoire. �This bill is about making sure our health care system delivers the best care to patients and makes the most efficient use of scarce health care dollars.�
