WHEREAS, we must begin now to preserve the beauty of our State and strive to correct those growing conditions which are rapidly making our cities unlivable, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this Conference is to focus public attention on the increasing need for creating an environment in which our citizens can live, work and play in the most healthful and productive manner. In so doing, it is my hope that the Conference will provide many recommendations to stimulate both public and private actions aimed at the preservation of the great gifts of natural beauty which our State enjoys, and also to proceed rapidly to counteract those conditions of ugliness and neglect brought about by a society too greatly preoccupied with other things.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, do hereby designate the Parks and Recreation Commission of the State of Washington as the agency responsible for the staffing and coordination of activities of the Governor's Conference on Design for Washington.
IN WITNESS
WHEREOF, I
have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the State of Washington to be affixed at Olympia this 15th day of September A.D., Nineteen hundred and sixty-five. Daniel J. Evans |
