Gov. Locke's statement on welfare reform
OLYMPIA — I'm disappointed. This is a significant piece of legislation and it deserves careful and further review.
Overall, we have concerns with the affordability of child care for those trying to transition from welfare to work, the possibility of a state only program and assistance for legal immigrants.
This is a major public policy change and I want a program that is workable and treats people fairly so welfare reform will succeed.
