Agency History: | First settled in 1874, one of the earliest settlers, Mortimer Cook, began planning a town in 1884 with the name "Bug". Other settlers in the area objected to living in a town called "Bug" and decided to name the settlement "Sedro", meaning cedar. In 1898 the town of Sedro merged with the rival town of Wolley, which was established in 1890. The City of Sedro-Woolley was incorporated in 1898 and is located in Skagit County. |
