Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, Jul 06, 2006, last edited Jul 17, 2009: “To reach the cemetery from Alamota, drive north on Busch Road, keeping right. Just past the junction in the road you will spot it off to your right on the hillside.” “This cemetery is in the small community of Almota, just north of Little Granite Dam on the Snake River. It gets little or no care and the grass was knee high. One needs permission to visit it as it is on private property.” “This cemetery appears to be a family cemetery, however while it was abandoned for so long, many of the original Moys burials were moved to the Colfax Cemetery years ago. It dates back to the late 1800s. There is a building in the area that says “Moys 1877.” “Some stones were turned over and/or hidden in the overgrowth at the time of these readings.” “I visited this cemetery in the summer of 2006, using my digital camera. I have a photo of all stones I found.” |
