Notes from transcriber Suzanne Livingstone, June 12, 2011: “The cemetery is located at the corner of 8th NE and Auburn Way N in Auburn WA, directly across the street from Auburn Sports and Marine.” “Auburn Pioneer Cemetery is also known as Fawcett Cemetery, Slaughter Cemetery, and Auburn Japanese Cemetery.” “This is a very small cemetery that is fenced in and very well kept. There is a small gate that is kept unlocked and there is plenty of parking available. The listings are the stones I was able to transcribe. There are at least another 50+ stones that are all in Japanese and appear to contain only the last name with no first name or dates. The earliest burial found was 1866.” “For additional information: visit the City of Auburn Washington web site at: http://www.auburnwa.gov/community/parks recreation/mt view cemetery/pioneer cemetery” “Cemetery Address: 8th NE and Auburn Way N, Auburn, WA.” “Cemetery Contact: 253-931-3028” “ I walked the cemetery and read all visible stones in September 2011.” |
