Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, 1999-2007, last edited Mar 04, 2011: “Scotts Valley Cemetery lies about 1/2 mile east of Hwy 291 on Scotts Valley Road, just to your left and up a hill rather secluded if you are not watching for it. While it is not a perpetual care cemetery, it seems to be well maintained by the Scotts Valley Cemetery Association.” “With the closing of the first Scotts Valley cemetery, most of the burials were transferred to this new area which was donated by Nathan Newell for cemetery use. Primarily all that remained at the first cemetery are some of the first settlers of Scotts Valley.” “I walked the cemetery on May 20, 1999 and have combined my readings with the current Sexton files, which removed some and changed names on others. I revisited this cemetery on Jun 10, 2007 and read it again using a digital camera. I have placed an asterisk * after those names I did not find a stone or marker for this time.” |
