To reach it from Hwy 395, turn west onto Staley Rd, and continue for 5.5 miles to Swenson Rd., turn right, continue for about 1 mile, turn left onto Hattery Rd. The cemetery lies on your left approximately 1.5 mile further.” “I found this cemetery to be a refreshing place, with old stones that are in such good shape, compared to some I have seen. I walked and read the cemetery on May 10, 1999. The overhead sign, on the entrance to the cemetery says, "Established in 1889." It is assumed this date is correct by using the dates of the earliest burials.” “Jun 04, 1918 a group of area residents met to organize a Williams Valley Cemetery Association. Since the current cemetery was on the farm of Martin Lee, and had been used as such for many years, Martin agreed to donate the land to the Association for cemetery use. After reading minutes of their meetings from 1918-1986, the possible date it became an Association is somewhere between 1918-1919. There were many minutes missing. The current Association members continue to meet and care for the cemetery.” Earliest death listed - 1891 Latest death listed - 2009 “I visited and read this cemetery first in 1999, then again with my digital camera on May 10, 2006. Last updated Oct 12, 2008.” |
