This index is open for research. Notes from transcriber Suzanne Livingstone, November 28, 2011: “Head South on Highway 169 from Maple Valley/Four Corners (Highway 516 and Highway 169) 3.2 miles. Turn right (West) onto Roberts Rd. Follow 0.8 miles. Take sharp left onto Morgan St. Cemetery is on the right side up a slight hill.” “Cemetery Contact: City of Black Diamond, 360-886-2560.” “Cemetery is in very good condition and well cared for and contains many older stones, including those of miners who were killed in local mine explosions. The cemetery has a fence around it and a road that thru it that you can drive around the cemetery on. The cemetery is on the National Registry of Historic Places.” “I walked and read the cemetery was walked and read in August 2011. The earliest noted burial was 1887. The stones listed may not be all of them, only the ones that were visible and legible. Per the City of Black Diamond’s website there maybe as many as 200 more.” |
