These records include searchable audio recordings from Senate committee meetings from 1971 through 2004 and 2010 through 2017. The digitization of these recordings is an ongoing project, and recordings will continue to be added to the Digital Archives over the next several years.

The recordings can be searched by Committee name, year, and keyword.

Senate Committee meeting recordings are verbatim recordings of each committee’s legislative business. During Senate Committee meetings, elected members consider and make recommendations about disposition of bills, resolutions, and other matters referred to them.

Notes Audio tapes are digitized, processed, and indexed by Joanna Steusloff, Hathor Vergotis, and Benjamin Robertson as part of a project funded by the Washington State Legislature. Audio tapes after 2004 are digitized by the Washington State Office of the Secretary of Senate and by Legislative Services.
Agency History: The Washington State Senate is the upper house of the Washington State Legislature. The body consists of 49 members, each representing a district with a population of nearly 140,000. State senators serve without term limits, each term being four years.
