To reach it one can drive from Spokane by way of Bigelow Gulch road for about 2 mile and take a left onto Orchard Prairie Road. It is another 1.6 miles, on the right side of the road.” “The records show the first burial to be in 1884. This is two years before Union Cemetery Association was formed, which was on Feb. 20, 1886.” “I found that while it is not a perpetual care cemetery, it is kept mowed and in good condition. I have compared my readings with Spokane Rural Cemeteries, Vol. 3, pub. 1963 by EWGS. Some have location which are from these records. The location is shown with numbers indicating the lot and letters indicating the block.” “*Some members of the Sjostrand family changed their surname to Paulson, others changed it to Hartson.” “** I placed a double asterisk after all readings done the first time which I did not find a marker for this time. There were some which I could not read, so it does not mean all do not have a marker, but most do not.” “I surveyed this cemetery on Jul 14, 1999 and then I walked it again on Nov 17, 2001 & again in Sep 2009, using my digital camera. Some burials do not have markers. Also some obits added.” |
