The cemetery will be on the north side of Monroe Rd is a very short distance.” “This cemetery held its first meeting of the Woodland Cemetery Association on Mar 16, 1908. A great deal of credit goes to W. H. Short for making it possible. There were 500 shares to start with and Mr. Short held 496.” “At the present time the records are kept at Franklin Accounting, at Crawford and First Sts in Deer Park. There is a groundskeeper who lives on the premises to see that the cemetery grounds are cared for.” “This cemetery has a complete section of it around the whole perimeter of the cemetery. A road separates that area from the two center parts. I tried to keep track of where they were to a certain degree. Please do not be upset if I have one mismarked. The center area might have a few wrong. Those with an asterisk may or may not be correct. Most I did not try to place.” “I began walking this cemetery on May 28, 2003 and continued through May 30, 2003. I use a digital camera and am willing to share photos. Entries with an asterisk are names I found in a reading in 1960, which may or may not be accurate. I hope to find other records in time. There are many illegible and missing markers. Listings after May 2003 are either from obits or family.” |
