I first walked the cemetery, reading all of the stones, then I compared with the Sexton books of Peone Cemetery which were up to 1998.” “On Aug 10, 1999 I completed a new physical survey of this cemetery, combining my readings with the 1998 transcription. If there was a difference in the readings, I went with the headstone or made a note of it when it was not evident which was correct.” “I read the cemetery again on Apr 30, 2005, this time with a digital camera. I have a photo of each headstone. I found many of the old stones have been replaced with new stones, changing the reading I had the first time. In some cases they only used the year and I have the full date. I try to only list the headstone reading, but since this does include the the locations on some from the sexton files, and some of the dates. I left what was there before on the names. I also checked with the Sexton files up to Jul 01, 2005 and added any I did not find a marker for. These are followed by an * asterisk.” |
