Introduction |
The index lists names and burial information for patients from the Custodial School, Eastern State Hospital and Lakeland Village. Death dates range from 1939 to 1960. Index information about an individual may include name, birth date, birth place, death date, and names of family members. Index data was compiled by Maggie Rail, a member of the Washington State Cemetery Association who has transcribed over 400 cemeteries since 1993
There are 282 individuals listed in this index. This index is in English. This index is open for research. Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, last edited Mar 06, 2012: “These are partial records of patients of the Custodial School, Eastern State Hospital and Lakeland Village deaths and burials. The records were kept during the years of 1938-1961 by St Anne Parish. I have not been able to find out why St Anne's had them, what happened to the previous years, or if this includes all who died from the hospital during those years. I think it still is just a partial listing of that time period.” “I do know that a record of all of the patients for Eastern State Hospital has been kept in very good order by the Hospital, but due to state law they are not allowed to disclose them. A few of these records were mingled with the regular cemetery records for St. Anne Parish. You may find some of the names listed also in the file for St. Anne Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA. This list does not contain all the records for the years involved. I just recently found similar listings in the New England Cemetery, Cheney, WA. Perhaps there are more ESH patients buried in surrounding cemeteries.” “Lakeland Village is the new name for the Custodial school. These were copied March 28, 1961. I hope to acquire more up to date records for Lakeland Village eventually, but there will be no others for ESH, unless some are found in other surrounding cemetery records.” “These records were transcribed from the book, Spokane County Rural Cemeteries, Vol. #2, pub. 1962 by EWGS, S. 10 Cedar St, Spokane WA. Used by permission.” |
