These records come from a bound volume which includes marriage licenses applied for through the Spokane County Auditor’s Office, 1882-1897. The License lists the names of the involved parties, their places of residence, and the date the license was issued.

This record is a license to wed, and as such does not document that a marriage happened, but only that the parties named were issued a license.

Agency History: Spokane County was formed from part of Walla Walla County in 1858. It was voted out of existence five years later and merged with Stevens County. In 1879 it was recreated and named after the Spokane Indians. The county is located in the northeastern part of the state. The county seat is Spokane.
