Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, Jun 02, 2004, Updated Jul 05, 2013: “Organized: Oct. 03, 1901. Received Incorporation papers: Dec. 14, 1901 Land deeded to Association by Amos and Emma Lewis. Feb. 04, 1902 Approved by County Commissioners: Apr 14, 1908. Re-Incorporated as the "Chester Community Cemetery" a non-profit corporation on Feb 20, 1990.” “Originally I transcribed only from the Chester Community Cemetery's Sexton book. They list burials from 1902 to 1998. The record lists name, death date and sometimes birthdate, age at death and location in the cemetery. Also recorded are birthplace, cause of death and nearest relative, when available.” “I walked this cemetery on Oct 18, 2001. I placed an asterisk * after all those which do not have a marker. I have photos of all existing stones and markers at time of reading.” |
