Abbreviations used in this index: d/o = daughter of h/o = husband of w/o = wife of s/o = son of s/w = stone with Notes from transcriber Maggie Rail, 1998, last edited June 27, 2016: “William Jacob Boy sold the original two acres for use as a cemetery. It is not known when the first burial was made in this cemetery. The earliest one I have listed is 1895.” “Evergreen Cemetery Association was incorporated in 1908. At a meeting of the Association on Feb. 02, 1940, a resolution was made to turn the cemetery over to the Township. “ “I have since revisited this cemetery three times, last time on May 03, 2003 with my camera. I have photos of all existing headstones. Some photos are very difficult to read, because of the amount of growth on the stone. I found some of the headstones not exactly as the sexton records had, but I used the headstone reading in each case this happened. “ “I have placed an asterisk * after the burials from the sexton files, which I found no marker for. I have photos of most of the entries.” “I have transcribed and compiled this from walking the cemetery, plus the available sexton records as of Jun 16, 1998. It is possible there were more burials in this cemetery, but these are the recorded burials.” |
