This cemetery was founded by the Evangelical Congregational Church of Latah in 1902. In 1961 the church became known as Zion Church, Latah Zion or Evangelical United Brethren Church. The membership of the church being largely German in the beginning. In the cemetery under the "Latah Evergreen Cemetery" sign is a memorial with the following inscription on it. "May this garden serve as a memorial to those interred and may it also honor those who so generously gave of labor and contributions to prepare and perpetuate the present facility," "The Latah Evergreen Cemetery." This cemetery has perpetual care and I have found it in excellent condition each time I have visited. I walked and read this cemetery on Jul 18, 1999, revisited Aug 23, 2002, a few listings from obits since. - Maggie Rail |
