Record Creator: | Thurston County Government, Assessor |
Description: | Real property assessment cards were created by the Thurston County Assessor’s Office to determine the value of all taxable real and personal property for the purpose of establishing the tax liabilities of property owners. The cards capture some or all of the following: legal description, number of acres, sales price, property transfer deed volume and page, name of owner(s), property values, address, photo number, tax parcel number, and details of the structure(s).
Photographs were taken for assessment records from 1936-1971. These photographs were numbered by the Assessor in the order in which they were taken. A parcel does not always include a photograph, and in some cases the photograph is missing. These instances are recorded in the Notes field. Only a small portion of the collection is currently available online. More records will be posted as they are indexed. |

Notes | The best way to access the cards is by parcel number. Addresses are also searchable, but many cards did not include the address information, and so such a search is less reliable. Researchers are encouraged to refer to the Thurston County Assessor’s web site to convert address information into parcel numbers. Minimal legal description was captured in indexing these records, which may include plats or subdivisions, metes and bounds, or donation land claims.
Indexing and photograph digitization completed by the Washington State Archives. Assessment card digitization completed by the Thurston County Assessor. |
