| Agency History: | The Department of Revenue was created in 1965, replacing the Washington State Tax Commission which had existed since 1925. Prior to 1925 tax functions had been under three agencies: the State Board of Tax Commissioners (1905-17), the State Tax Commissioner (1917-21), and the Department of Taxation and Examination (1921-25). The Tax Commissioners were also ex-officio members of the Board of Equalization. |
