Description: | This scrapbook includes ephemera and documents collected by the Clark County Sheriff Department and pasted inside a 1906 Real Property Assessment Roll volume. Items include wanted posters, missing posters, identification photographs (mug shots), correspondence, descriptive lists of deserters from the U.S. Army, and dealers’ records of sale of dangerous weapons. Many posters are from different states.

Agency History: | The Sheriff is the chief official concerned with preservation of peace in the county, has the power to apprehend all persons guilty of public offenses, and is the custodian of prisoners in the county jail. The Sheriff keeps records on the execution of court instructions, investigations, arrests, and jail maintenance. |
