Agency History:	Named in 1853 at the suggestion of Colonel Isaac Ebey, the first recorded visit to the area by European settlers was in 1792 when Peter Puget and the British Vancouver Expedition charted the site. The City of Olympia was incorporated in 1859 and is the county seat of Thurston County. Olympia is also the capital of the State of Washington.
