Learn about the documentation of Naturalization in Washington and what information is found in the various record types by selecting the tab that says "About this Collection" here The Washington Territorial Legislature created Whatcom County on March 9, 1854 from Island County, and named the county in honor of the local Native American chief. It is located in the northwest corner of the state. All records are in English. These records are open for research.
