Introduction	The Carbonado Cemetery index lists individuals interred at the Carbonado Cemetery in Pierce County, Carbonado, Washington. Notes from transcriber Suzanne Livingstone: Carbonado Cemetery is located at T19N R6E S32, 47degrees 5.02'N, 122degrees, 3.62'W. From junction of Hwy 410 and Hwy 165 South in Buckley, head south on Hwy 165 1.6 miles to junction Hwy 162. Turn left at stop sign. Continue on Hwy 165, 5.3 miles to Carbonado. Turn right onto Perishing Avenue for ½ mile to end of road (just past the saloon). Road turns to the right, continue another ½ mile. Cemetery will be on the left side of the road. Parking available for one car by the cemetery sign and an additional space on the other side of the road. At the back of the cemetery is a small monument with a plaque that states: “Dedicated to the men who lost their lives in the local mines. Wilkeson Eagles 1409 12/7/02.” “12-09-1899 Carbon Hill #7 Mine 31 killed, explosion 12-07-1904 No. 5 mine, Burnett, 17 killed, explosion 12-17-1917 Wilkeson mine, 6 killed, mundation 08-28-1918 Burnett mine, 12 killed, explosion 12-17-1924 Burnett mine, 7 killed, explosion 12-14-1925 Wilkeson mine, 5 killed, explosion 04-08-1927 Carbonado mine, 7 killed, inundation 04-12-1930 Carbonado mine, 17 killed, explosion” Historical Records Project volunteers walked the cemetery and transcribed gravestone inscriptions in April and May 2004 and February 2006 and located 378 stones or markers. 21 stones were illegible.
