Introduction The Buckingham Cemetery index lists individuals interred at Buckingham Cemetery in Douglas County, Washington. Index information about an individual may include: name, birth date, birth place, death date, and names of family members. Dates on the markers range from 1903-1955. Index data was compiled by Maggie Rail, a member of the Washington State Cemetery Association, who has transcribed over 400 cemeteries since 1993.

Buckingham Cemetery is located at Lat 47° 52' 01"N, Lon 119° 37' 44"W, T27N R25E Section 1. Buckingham Cemetery is about three miles north of Mansfield High School in Buckingham Draw, south of Buckingham Spring and west of Middle Foster Creek about 0.3 miles.

The cemetery is situated near the old Buckingham Post Office, which was used by the small town of Buckingham when the town and this cemetery were active. There is no road leading into this abandoned town except perhaps through private property, and they do not let people enter.

This cemetery is now owned by Douglas County and is supposed to be maintained by one of the cemetery districts. However, when I contacted the county commissioners, they did not know anything about it, so I was unable to find out which district is responsible and why it isn’t being maintained and/or given an entrance road.

In August of 2004 I spent one whole afternoon walking through wheat fields and trying dead-end roads to access it and was not able to reach it. I am told one can find it in the winter by snowmobile. It is said to have about 20-30 old upright stones and is fenced in. I found these names by researching various records.
