Cemetery Location Lat: 48° 59' 08"N, Lon: 118° 13' 08"W Sec 10 T40N R36E Directions Laurier is in northern Ferry County at the Canadian border on Hwy 395. The cemetery is south of town about one mile. Turn left or east onto McIrvin Rd toward Summit Creek. It is on private property at the first gate on the right side of McIrvin Rd. One must walk over 1/2 mile to reach the cemetery through the woods. Transcription Notes This cemetery is located on land owned by the McIrvin family, who maintain a large area of the cemetery. It is also used by the residents of Laurier. I suspect each family cares for their own section. I found it interesting that it was not fenced necessarily as a whole cemetery. Rather there were fences going in several directions, each connected so it was all one. It was interesting to figure out how to enter each section, as one could not go from section to section. Of course there were not that many sections. The walk in from the road was quite a trek, and I have no idea how far really. I was tired and felt like resting when I was back to my car. Of course I wasted much energy finding it. There was more than one road to choose from, and yes I tried each one, the last one was it of course. I visited and surveyed this cemetery on Jul 19, 2001. This includes all existing and legible stones and markers at that time. Additions after that date were from obits. If anyone has a name I missed and can send proof, I will be happy to add it. ~ Maggie Rail |
