Ranald McDonald Cemetery This database is an index to Ranald McDonald Cemetery located in Ferry County, Washington. There are 21 names listed. Cemetery Location T40N R32E Sec 22 Lat: 48° 56' 51"N, Lon: 118° 45' 43"W Directions East of Hwy #21 one mile, and north of Curlew, follow signs. It is well marked. When you find it, you have a somewhat steep climb to the top of the hill where the cemetery is. Cemetery History This has become a famous cemetery because of Ranald McDonald's life. It is said that many Japanese tour to this cemetery to pay their respects. There are coins left from visitors at the base of the stone for Ranald McDonald. It has been named a Heritage Site, by the State Parks and Recreation Commission. The cemetery doesn’t appear to be maintained that well, but it is fenced and perhaps cleaned out annually. Transcription Notes Besides the following headstones, there were several white unmarked crosses in the cemetery. I visited and surveyed this cemetery on July 19, 2001. ~ Maggie Rail |
