Introduction |
This database is an index to the Quincy Cemetery located in Quincy, Grant County, Washington. There are 1,871 names listed. Location Lat: 47° 14' 01"N, Lon: 119° 51' 48"W The Quincy Cemetery is on the north side of SR 28 about 1/2 mile west of the intersection with SR 181. T20N, R24E, Section 7. Transcription Notes This cemetery is a district cemetery, operating under an appointed board. It is about 2½ acres in size, and appears to have plenty of room for growth, especially on the east side. The cemetery is well maintained. I used a digital camera to read this cemetery and came up with my own way of dividing it into sections. The main center section has about half of the burials. The cemetery is in a rectangular shape, about one block wide and three blocks long. The west side runs the full length, the other two have a driveway between them. I was told one could contact the Scharbach Funeral home for information at 300 G St SE, 509-787-2233. I however was unable to get any information. I held off publishing for these last months in hopes of adding names of any that have no markers from the sexton files, but they were not forthcoming. I will continue to search for older records, and add if and when I find some. At this time these are all of the existing and legible headstones, plus a few which came from an older reading and some from cemetery records. I walked and read this cemetery on Jun 26, 2004, using a digital camera. I have a photo of all existing and legible stones or markers. It is evident there are many missing here. - Maggie Rail Abbreviations b.= born c/o = child of FH = funeral home h/o = husband of * = no photo, from obits or family s/by = stone by s/o = son of sss= shares surname stone s/w = stone with w/o = wife of CR = from cemetery burial records |
