Notes: | Seattle Times newspaper clipping from November 7, 1969 about Sea-Tac Protest which took place on November 6th. Image shows "A black demonstrator was held by one officer and pinned against a bus with a riot stick by another during the arrest of 48 persons who disobeyed officers' orders to leave the Seattle-Tacoma Airport terminal yesterday. In the background Frank Denman, Seattle Magazine photographer, took pictures while manacled in a van after he was arrested." On November 6 1969, police arrested 48 protestors during a demonstration at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport protesting discrimination in construction employment. The demonstration was part of a campaign by the Central Contractors Association to win more union construction jobs for blacks and other minorities. |
