"Army Signal Corps Radio Transmitter Station / (122) In excess of $15,000 was expended in clearing and landscaping this thirty acre site for the Alaska Military Cable and Telegraph system, sponsor for the project. The operation, herewith shown, was carried on by single men and men over fifty years of age." -- on typewritten note attached to verso.
