Gov. Locke and Attorney General Gregoire statement on Senate passage of safe schools bill
“We are pleased by the passage of the safe schools bill by both the state
Senate and the state
House of Representatives.
“Passage of this bill sends a clear message that bullying is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our schools. We must make sure that every student has a safe place to learn.
“The legislation requires school districts to develop effective anti-bullying policies. It also provides legal protections for school employees, students and volunteers who report bullying incidents.
“We would like to thank
Senate Education Committee Chair Rosemary McAuliffe for her leadership on this important issue.”
