Governor Locke's statement on Boeing's move to Chicago
"I'm gratified that The Boeing Company plans to maintain its commercial operations in Washington, operations that provide nearly 80,000 family-wage jobs in research, development, and manufacturing.
"I also appreciate Boeing's leadership to end transportation gridlock in Central Puget Sound. I've proposed a 10-year, $17.2 billion traffic-relief investment package to take on our transportation challenges directly and effectively.
"In addition, Washington state continues to lead the country in new business start-ups. In 2000, we once again received an "A" on a national report card for economic development from the Corporation for Enterprise Development."
