Locke accepts Graves' challenge on Holiday Bowl
OLYMPIA — Gov. Gary Locke has accepted a challenge from Gov. Bill Graves of Kansas over the outcome of tomorrow's Holiday Bowl in San Diego.
The University of Washington will fight for the bowl game title against Kansas State University. In the spirit of holiday competition, Graves challenged Locke to a friendly wager that involves donating 12 children's books to a public school or library of the winner's choice.
Locke accepted the challenge, noting children will be the ultimate winner, regardless of which team earns the bowl game title.
"Whenever we can put books into the hands of children, we open their minds to endless possibilities," Locke said.
The Washington Huskies (7-4) meet the Kansas State Wildcats (10-1) at 5 p.m. PST.
