General Odierno's letter to Governor Gregoire acknowledges the challenging mission of the 81st Heavy Brigade Combat Team (HBCT) and the lasting impact of their service in Iraq. The sacrifice of our citizen-Soldiers will echo for generations as the Iraqi people set course for a new and brighter future.

Although General Odierno speaks of the Brigade's mission drawing to a close, in a real sense our commitment to the 81st HBCT and to other returning citizen-Soldiers and Airmen is just beginning.  Governor Gregoire has been tireless in bringing together federal, state and local agencies, private business and trade organizations, veterans organizations and private citizens to support our National Guard and other reserve component veterans, families and employers.

I encourage you to review a portion of these services and personal service opportunities at the "Veterans and Families" section of our website: http://washingtonguard.org/FamiliesandVeterans/

If you know of a veteran or military family member who needs help, please refer them to us at 1–877–585–5655. Thank you for supporting the citizen-Soldiers and Airmen of the Washington Army and Air National Guard and for making it possible for them to be "Always Ready - Always There."

General Odierno's letter of thanks.
