While H1N1 (swine flu) isn’t making the headlines as much these days, it’s still around and you should take it seriously. It’s a good time to get vaccinated; there’s plenty available now.

In our state, H1N1 has killed dozens and put hundreds more in hospitals. Only a few weeks ago, vaccine wasn’t arriving as fast as expected. That was frustrating. Now, there’s enough for everyone. Contact your healthcare provider or go to the Department of Health Web site to find out where you can get vaccinated.

You may have heard that this new flu hasn’t been as bad as feared. The fact is, nobody knows what the virus will do. January 10-16 is National Influenza Vaccination Week. Play it safe with your health: get vaccinated and avoid getting sick.

And remember: Cover your coughs and sneezes, wash your hands often, and stay home if you’re sick. You’ll get better sooner and you won’t infect others.

Have a safe and healthy 2010!
