Did you know that reading to your child just 20 minutes a day can ensure future success? Recent studies suggest that if a child is proficient in reading by the time they finish 3rd grade – they’re more likely to graduate from high school. And those who graduate from high school are more likely to pursue further education or get a job.

That’s why I have launched my new ‘Read Early, Read Often’ campaign, encouraging parents and caretakers to spend at least 20 minutes a day reading to their children. Not only will this activity help your child learn this critical skill, it solidifies a bond that will last a lifetime.

It’s never too early to start! Children are learning at birth—even before. The early years are the most extraordinary period of growth and development in a child’s lifetime. There are less than 2,000 days from the time a child is born until he or she enters kindergarten. Every day counts!

As a parent I loved reading to my daughters when they were young and now look forward to reading and sharing their favorite stories with my grandchildren.
