Gov. Gregoire�s statement on the Supreme Court�s latest order in the McCleary case

Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement after the Washington State Supreme Court ordered the Legislature to outline in 2013 a path forward to meeting its obligations to fund basic education by 2018:

�Today the state Supreme Court sounded another wake-up call of just how serious they are taking the issue of K-12 funding through the McCleary decision. This is the most important issue for the Legislature this session.

�In the budget I announced this week, I offered a path that I think meets the requirements of the Supreme Court. More importantly, it is a path that I believe meets the needs of our students.�
