Governor Gregoire Adds Six Counties to Emergency Proclamation for Flooding

OLYMPIA - Governor Chris Gregoire today added six counties to her emergency proclamation for fall flooding. The added counties are Island, Kittitas, Klickitat, San Juan, Skamania and Yakima.

The state of emergency now includes 24 counties. The original proclamation on Nov. 6 covered Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Okanogan, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum and Whatcom counties.

Governor Gregoire�s proclamation directs Washington state government to support emergency response activities in the 24 counties, allowing state agencies to make expenditures and utilize resources to assist local communities. It also authorizes the Washington National Guard to activate all resources, and the Washington Emergency Management Division to coordinate all state assistance through the State Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray.
